No childcare for half term? What can you do??
It’s nearly half term, you’ve known this for a while and kept putting off finding childcare and now it’s too late- what are you going to do??
If you’re lucky enough to book a space with us at our February Half Term Holiday Club in West Norwood (which is now fully booked from Monday- Thursday!), then you’re sorted. We’ll be doing all sorts of activities to keep the kids creative, happy, engaged and entertained. If you haven’t, or can’t find another club that has spaces and the grandparents or child minders are away and you need to work from home, you’re in a bit of a pickle aren’t you?!
Well actually, you’re not…
There are a whole host of things you can get the kids to do whilst you’re working from home.
Here are our top 5 activities to keep the kids occupied whilst you tap away on your laptop…
1) Get the kids to create their own space rocket using whatever is in the recycling bin. Plastics pots, newspapers, plastic bottles and some kitchen foil can all be stuck together with glue or sticky tape. Every surface should to be covered, they can invent their own name for it (Lily’s Super Space Rocket, for example) and then they can make up a story and a show using them!
2) Make your own indoor camp or den. They can use cushions, blankets over chairs, get their duvets underneath and pretend they are camping! They can even mime they’re making a barbecue outside of it or making a cup of tea. They can even pretend to be you!
3) Create a Show. They can come up with some characters, a story, work on some costumes, rehearse and then show you what they’ve done at the end.
4) Do a jigsaw puzzle. If you don’t have one, this is a great investment. Some have over 1000 pieces and this will keep the kids busy for hours…
5) Start a diary. Give the kids a note book, get them to write down everything that happens for each day, their feelings, what they’ve learned, what they saw, drawings of things they’ve seen.
We hope this helps keep the little ones occupied for a bit and we also hope you have a great half term, whatever you’re up to.
